Los Angeles–based Future Heretics debuted its Fall 2011 collection on the runway at Style Fashion Week L.A. The collection for men and women gave a utilitarian slant to streetwear with military-inspired shirt details, including epaulets on men’s shirting and women’s blouses, blazers with oversized pockets like those found on traditional cargo pants, and skinny, cropped his and her versions of cargo pants. Brassy buttons, hits of fur and leather, and denim coated in wax for a leathery sheen gave the collection a dose of street glamour. Standout pieces included a slightly rumpled take on the double-breasted blazer for him and a naughty secretary–meets–G.I. Joe pencil skirt for her. —Erin Barajas
